World Environment Day at Keltic Ties!
There has been so much build up over the last few months surrounding world environment day! Today is the day! All around the world scientists, businesses, schools and environmentalists are all coming together to #beattheplastic. We have been following live updates here
Our eco ties are already proving we are doing our bit for a greener planet and cleaner oceans. Today we thought we would raise awareness amongst the whole office by having a ‘bring plastics into work day’. We came to the conclusion that almost all of our household items and day to day toiletries are stored in plastic bottles or containers. The culprits on the list include; fabric softener, bleach, pop bottles, face wash. shower gel, milk bottles, shampoo and yogurt pots. Click here to also learn about the international plastic bag free day.
Restaurants, bars and pubs have already started to ban plastic straws and now provide paper straws. Many well known companies and chains have also signed the UK plastic pact. The plastic pact contains a number of targets in order to reduce plastic by 2025. One of those targets is to completely ban single use plastic. The picture below are some of the company names that have already joined.
Save the date!
It hasn’t ended there just yet with all the plastic free campaigning. Friday 8th June 2018 is World Oceans Day. A day dedicated to raising awareness on all the waste in our oceans. Also, Tuesday 3rd July 2018 is International plastic bag free day. It is suspected that plastic bags remain in the world for from between 100-500 years before decaying completely. Consequently having an astonishing impact on our environment and oceans.
To the recycling bank
All our plastic rubbish is now going to the recycling bank. We will continue our support in a ‘free plastic’ world, and would like to thank all schools who have already switched their school ties to eco school ties. Remember just 2 recycled plastics bottles can make 1 eco tie.
