Silk Martial Arts Ties

Associations order silk ties for grading panels, instructor courses and the formal side of an event where the gi comes off. Dan grade and committee ties are often woven in silk to separate them from the standard association tie. Kanji, mon and small emblem detail all weave in cleanly, and we will show you a visual of the emblem before anything runs.

Martial arts association ties are typically used by the members, instructors, or officials of a martial arts federation or club when they’re in formal attire (outside the dojo or ring). For example, at award ceremonies, seminars, inter-club meetings, or competitions (when not in gi/uniform), association members might wear these ties along with blazers or suits. It’s a way to represent the martial arts school or association with a professional look. Essentially, the tie becomes part of the formal dress code, symbolizing unity and pride in the martial arts organization.

Yes. Keltic can weave or print any emblem onto the tie. Many martial arts associations have distinctive symbols – whether it’s a stylized fist, a dragon, a particular kanji (character), or crossed swords. These can be incorporated into the tie’s design. Often, such emblems might appear just below the knot area or repeatedly in a subtle pattern. Keltic will ensure that even intricate details (say, a detailed dragon or calligraphic text) come out clearly on the fabric.

Absolutely. If you’d like to incorporate the progression of belt colors (white, yellow, green, blue, brown, black, for instance) into the design, Keltic can get creative. For example, they could create a stripe pattern that subtly includes those belt colors in sequence, or use colored bars representing belts as part of the design motif. The result would be a tie that symbolically represents the journey through martial arts ranks. Keltic’s designers will work with you on such creative ideas to make sure the concept is conveyed in a classy way.

Yes. Martial artists are disciplined, but also active – Keltic’s ties are built to last even with frequent use. They use a tight weave of recycled polyester yarn which is both strong and resilient. The tie won’t easily show wrinkles or wear, even if it’s tied and untied many times as members change in and out of gi. Also, if someone accidentally spills a drink on it at a banquet, the polyester is forgiving and can be spot-cleaned effectively. So, the ties should remain in excellent shape through many tournaments, gradings, and social events.

Keltic can usually have your custom ties ready in about 4 weeks after you approve the design. Given that martial arts events (like yearly black-tie dinners or championships) are scheduled in advance, four weeks is typically very manageable. It’s still wise to reach out early – particularly if you have a big event like an international seminar – but rest assured, their turnaround is fast. If you have a more urgent timeline, they’ll let you know what’s feasible when you contact them.

The standard minimum is around 50 ties for a custom order. If your association is smaller, consider that 50 ties allow you to outfit current members and have extras for new members or as items to sell/fundraise. However, if you truly don’t need that many, discuss it with Keltic. They might offer solutions like ordering tie slides or badges in addition, or the jacquard trim scarf option (which has no minimum if you’re also ordering some ties) to effectively lower the tie minimum. Keltic’s goal is to get you what you need, so they will work with you even if your numbers are on the lower side.

Yes – they will ensure the tie complements your existing branding. If your association’s logo uses certain fonts or colors (say, a bold red circle for Japan or a specific clan color), those will be matched on the tie. If your uniforms or patches have gold embroidery, for example, Keltic could incorporate a gold stripe or edge on the tie to echo that. Essentially, they’ll view your tie as an extension of your association’s identity and make sure it doesn’t clash with any official materials, but rather enhances them.

Some associations like to get input from senior members or masters on the design. Keltic can provide multiple design drafts for you to circulate among your committee or leadership. Because they offer free visuals of the designs, you can show those to others for feedback before finalizing. This collaborative approach can be very beneficial – it ensures the tie respects the traditions and preferences of the group. Keltic is patient during this process; they understand that especially in martial arts, respect and consensus can be important.
