Frequently Asked Questions
Can Keltic produce ties for our bowls club that include our club colors and emblem?
Yes. Keltic specializes in custom club ties and can incorporate any bowls club’s colors and emblem into the design. Bowls clubs often favor classic, clean designs – for example, a solid background color with stripes or piping in club colors, plus the club badge. Keltic will work with you to create a tie design that matches your existing uniforms (like blazers or jumpers) and proudly displays your club identity. The weaving process allows even detailed lawn bowls club logos to be included crisply on the tie.
Our bowls club has members of all ages – will the ties suit everyone?
Absolutely. The ties are made in a standard size that works for most adults, and Keltic can also provide slightly shorter lengths if needed for junior members or those who prefer a shorter tie. Additionally, for members who struggle with tying a tie (which might include some senior members), Keltic can supply clip-on versions of the bowls club tie. These clip-on ties look identical when worn, but they attach easily without needing a knot – very handy for ensuring everyone’s tie sits neatly and uniformly.
How durable are these ties? We often have outdoor events in varying weather – will they hold up?
Keltic’s ties are very durable and well-suited for outdoor club activities. They are woven from strong polyester yarn, which is resistant to fraying and fading. Rain or a bit of moisture won’t ruin them – after all, they’re not silk that would spot easily. If a tie does get a little wet or soiled (say, from dew on a bowling green or a spilled tea during clubhouse gatherings), it can be spot-cleaned or dry-cleaned without trouble. These ties are made to last through many seasons of bowling club events while still looking sharp.
Are the bowls club ties environmentally friendly?
Yes, they are. Just like other club ties from Keltic, bowls club ties are made using Eco Tie materials – that means recycled plastic bottle yarn turned into polyester fabric. So when your club chooses Keltic ties, you’re also making a green choice. Each tie contributes to recycling efforts and is produced in an eco-conscious way (in a solar-powered mill). It’s a nice talking point for club members and visitors that your uniform item is helping reduce waste.
We have an upcoming inter-club tournament. Can we get the ties in time if we order now?
Keltic’s usual production time is about 4 weeks from finalizing the design. If your tournament is at least a month away, you should be fine. It’s recommended to start the process as early as you can: allow a week or two for design discussion and approval, then 4 weeks for making the ties. If you’re really short on time, reach out to Keltic and explain the situation – they will advise if a rush is possible. Because they manufacture in the UK, they can often accommodate tighter timelines better than overseas suppliers. They aim to ensure you have those ties by tournament day.
Do we need to order a large quantity, or can small clubs get ties too?
Keltic tries to be flexible. The standard minimum is around 50 ties for a custom design. However, they understand some bowls clubs are small. If you don’t need 50, one option is to use the jacquard trim scarf solution (no minimum) for a few scarves alongside an order of some ties. Alternatively, you might order the minimum and use extra ties as spares or to sell to club supporters. It’s best to talk to Keltic about your club’s size – in some cases they might be able to include a smaller run with another job or find a workaround. Many clubs also partner with their ladies’ section or an associated club to do a combined order to meet minimums.
Can Keltic help us design a tie if we have no prior design?
Certainly. Many bowls clubs come to Keltic without an existing tie design. Keltic’s design team will gather your club’s colors, logo, and any preferences (some clubs like diagonal stripes, others prefer a repeating logo pattern, etc.). They’ll then create a few mock-up designs for you to choose from, completely free of charge. You can tweak those designs until you’re happy. Keltic has decades of experience, so they might even show you examples of ties made for other bowls clubs to spark inspiration. Rest assured, they make the design process easy and enjoyable for you.

Our club already has ties from many years ago. Will new ones match the old ones?
If you want the new ties to match an old design, Keltic can replicate the classic design faithfully. They can match the colors (often improving color-fastness with modern dyes) and recreate the stripe pattern or emblem placement exactly. The only subtle difference will be the material upgrade (recycled poly vs whatever was used decades ago), but visually they will be nearly identical. This way, existing members with old ties and new members with Keltic ties will all look uniform. Many clubs appreciate this continuity – it honors the club’s tradition while bringing in new stock for the future.
How do we care for the bowls club ties – any special instructions?
Caring for the ties is straightforward. Since they are polyester, you should avoid machine washing. Instead, spot clean any small stains with a damp cloth. For a thorough cleaning (say at season’s end), use dry cleaning. Always untie the knot after use to keep the fabric smooth and avoid permanent creases. Keltic’s ties are designed to resist wrinkling, but it’s good practice to hang them up or roll them loosely for storage rather than leaving them knotted. By following these simple steps, your club ties will remain crisp and vibrant for many years.
