Men’s Club Ties

Striped ties have been a staple item of men’s wardrobes for many decades. From their popularity with military regiments in the earlier 1900s to today’s current college and university ties; the striped tie has been worn as part of many fashions throughout the past century for varying occasions. At some point, when choosing the right necktie for an event or occasion you are likely to have found yourself asking one or more of the following questions:
‘Is this tie too formal?’
‘Does this tie make too much of a fashion statement?’
Or simply
‘Should I ditch the striped tie?’

The answer to this usually lies in the occasion.

Nowadays men’s attire is more relaxed compared with past decades, we’re choosing comfort over formality and tend to prefer a more casual look over the traditional shirt and tie. There are, however, plenty of occasions where you can still wear your favourite tie choice.

  1. Office

Depending on your job role, stripes with complementary colours can be a winner here to brighten up your suit and let a little of your personality shine through. You’ll usually see the trend of lighter, pastel colours in the Spring/Summer seasons while bolder and darker colours will dominate through Autumn/Winter.

  1. Interviews

Similarly to the office once you have the job; interviews can be tricky depending on the place you are interviewing and your profession. Generally speaking, dark plain colours are deemed appropriate for a formal interview so stay away from the stripes to be on the safe side.

  1. Meetings

Client meetings, manager meetings, team meetings; there are a lot meetings to be had. Some stripes here can really speak volumes about your personality and mood, depending on how much you want to give away.

  1. Dining Venues

Dependent on the colour of your suit and your mood, anything goes! Unless of course, there is a dress code you need to adhere to which includes colour.

  1. Weddings

Here you need to do one important thing, find out the colour theme of the wedding and don’t clash with the bride and groom! By clash we mean turn up in the same colour or completely contrasting colour. Other than that, be as wild as you like! You’ll blend in perfectly with the aunties and uncles busting their moves on the dance floor.

  1. Funerals

The obvious one out of these where you do not want to be wearing your striped tie is to a funeral. A plain and simple black or charcoal tie is really the only appropriate one here we’re afraid.

There are some great occasions to wear your striped ties with pride. Whether you choose to go all out or keep it simple and subtle, there are so many stripe combinations and colours these days that you are always spoilt for choice. Just remember to keep it to the right occasion and you will never go wrong. If you wish to research into the large collection of other ties we offer click here for more information.
