Frequently Asked Questions
What tie options are available for primary school students who can’t tie a tie yet?
For primary schools, Keltic offers easy-wear tie options such as Velcro-fastened ties and elasticated ties. These look like regular ties when worn but don’t require tying a knot – the Velcro version wraps around the collar and secures flat, and the elastic version is a loop that goes over the head with a pre-made knot. Both are ideal for younger children (infants and juniors) who haven’t learned to tie a tie or for whom safety is a concern. They ensure a neat uniform appearance without teachers or parents having to constantly retie or adjust the ties.
Can we get different tie lengths for infants (KS1) and juniors (KS2)?
Yes. Keltic can supply ties in multiple lengths to cater to different age groups. For instance, you might have a shorter 11″ or 12″ tie (or elastic tie) for infant classes and a longer 14″ or standard-length tie for junior classes. They can split your order by sizes – and even by fastening type (elastic for infants, standard or clip-on for older pupils). This way, each child gets a tie proportionate to their size. Keltic will discuss with you the appropriate lengths based on the ages/height of your students.
Our primary ties have a stripe pattern – can Keltic match it exactly?
Absolutely. Keltic will match your school’s stripe pattern and colors precisely. You can provide an existing tie or a design reference, and they will recreate it. They often weave tens of thousands of ties for schools, so replicating common stripe patterns (e.g., twin stripes, triple thin stripes, etc.) is no problem. If anything, you might find Keltic’s colors more vibrant due to their high-quality yarn and modern dyes. They’ll also ensure, if you have multiple color versions (say different stripe colors for different houses or year groups), that each variant is produced correctly.
We want to include the school logo on the tie – is that possible for primary ties?
Yes, it’s possible, though for primary school ties many opt for stripes only. If your logo is simple and recognizable (like a small shield or initials), Keltic can weave it as a repeating motif or place it just above the tie’s tip. Alternatively, they can do a logo on a tie slide or badge if not on the tie fabric itself. They’ll advise if the logo might make the tie look too busy for small children; often simplicity is best at primary level. But technically, yes, logos or even a mascot graphic can be included. They will use a jacquard weaving technique to integrate the logo without it fading or peeling (unlike cheap printed logos).
How do the recycled “Eco” ties benefit our primary school?
There are a few great benefits: First, by using ties made from recycled plastic bottles, you can tell your students that their uniform ties are helping the environment – it’s an excellent practical example of recycling that children can understand. For instance, if 200 ties are ordered, roughly 400 plastic bottles are saved from the ocean/landfill. This can tie into environmental education in class. Second, the ties are high quality and made in the UK, meaning they support local industry and have a lower carbon footprint in transportation. Third, as a school you aren’t paying more for these benefits – thanks to Keltic’s price match, the cost is the same as conventional ties. So it’s an all-around win: durable, ethically made ties that serve as a learning point for students about sustainability.
Young kids can be messy – how do we clean these ties?
Keltic’s primary school ties are built with everyday school life in mind. The polyester fabric (even though recycled) is easy to clean. For daily dirt or food stains, a damp cloth wipe can remove a lot. For more stubborn stains, the ties can be machine-washed on a gentle cycle or hand-washed, especially the elastic or Velcro types which have no internal lining to worry about. They dry quickly and don’t require ironing if hung up straight. Many schools also choose dark colors or patterns that hide stains well (practical for primary!). And if a tie ever gets really soiled or damaged, Keltic’s reasonable pricing makes replacements affordable.
Can Keltic also provide other matching items like book bag badges or scarves in our school colors?
Keltic’s main focus is on neckwear and related accessories. They do provide items like school scarves, bags, and accessories via their catalog. For example, if your school is interested in winter scarves in matching colors, or perhaps printed leavers’ scarves, Keltic has options for those as well. They also produce woven badges and name badges for schools. So yes, beyond ties, you can coordinate a range of uniform accessories through them – this ensures consistency in color matching and quality. It’s particularly nice for primary schools to have matching scarves or hats for outdoor wear on trips, etc., and Keltic can help maintain that uniform look across different items.
We have multiple house teams with different colors – can we get ties for each house?
Yes. Keltic can weave variations of the tie for each house color while keeping the overall design consistent. For example, if your base tie is navy with diagonal stripe, they could produce one version with a red stripe (House Red), one with green stripe (House Green), and so on. They handle split orders like this regularly for schools (many secondary schools do house-specific ties as well). Just let them know the breakdown (e.g., 100 of each color). The minimum order of ~50 can apply per design, but if your overall order is large, sometimes they can be flexible with slightly smaller quantities per house. Having house-colored ties is a great way to instill pride and easy identification during inter-house events, and Keltic will ensure each variant is high quality and delivered together for the school.
