Choir Uniform Ideas: How Loughborough Male Voice Choir Found Its Look
You have concert dates in the diary, members in every size, and a committee that wants to see the uniform before anyone spends choir funds. Loughborough Male Voice Choir was in that position when they came to us.

At Keltic Ties, we supplied Loughborough Male Voice Choir with matching jackets and shirts, fitted and delivered well ahead of their performance dates. Their dark blazers and bright turquoise shirts show one of the simplest choir uniform ideas. One strong colour, worn by every member, makes the whole choir read as one group on stage.
If your committee is starting to plan, request our brochure and a free sample tie and we will post both to you.
What did Loughborough Male Voice Choir need?
The choir’s performance dates were already fixed, so timing was tight from the first conversation. Every member, across a wide range of sizes, had to look like part of the same group.
We worked closely with the choir to get every jacket and shirt fitted and delivered well ahead of their performances.

What makes a choir uniform work on stage?
Four things decide whether a choir uniform still looks right at the end of a busy concert season. We work through each of them on every choir order.
- Consistency. Every member should look part of the same choir, from the front row to the back.
- Comfort. Singers need freedom of movement and breathable fabric to get through a full concert.
- Durability. Fabric has to hold up under stage lighting and look the same after many performances.
- Branding. Your logo or crest can be embroidered or printed. On one of our club blazers, a wire blazer badge on the top pocket gives a traditional finish.
Choir uniform ideas: open collar, tie or bow tie?
Loughborough chose an open collar. It keeps singers comfortable and lets the shirt colour carry the choir’s identity. Your choice of neckline sets how formal the whole uniform looks.
| Option | How it looks | What to think about |
|---|---|---|
| Open collar with a coloured shirt | Relaxed and modern, with the shirt colour doing the work | Every shirt must match exactly, including on later reorders |
| Choir tie | Formal and traditional, with your colours or crest woven in | We weave custom ties in our UK mill in four weeks from final design approval |
| Bow tie | Evening dress for formal concerts and dinners | Choose a fastening every member can manage quickly |
You can also combine them. Wear an open collar for summer concerts and a choir tie for remembrance services or your annual dinner.
Our Eco Ties are woven from polyester yarn made from recycled plastic bottles, and each tie saves an average of two bottles from landfill and oceans. Your order comes with a certificate showing the bottles saved, a useful figure for your AGM. Read how our Eco Ties are made, or choose silk instead.
If your choir already has a tie but nobody holds the original artwork, we can copy your existing tie, matching its colours, stripes and crest.
What should you decide before you order?
Have these ready before you ask us for a price:
- ✓Your headcount, plus a few spares for new members.
- ✓Every member’s size, gathered in one list by one person.
- ✓The garments you need: blazer, shirt, tie or bow tie, badge.
- ✓A colour reference, such as a fabric swatch or an existing garment.
- ✓Your logo or crest artwork, or a clear photo of an existing badge or tie.
- ✓The date of the first concert the uniform must be ready for.
Send us that list and our in-house artist will draw free design visuals of your choir tie, amended until your committee is happy.
Can your committee see samples before it commits?
Yes. We can post sample garments so your committee can check the fit and fabric first. Return them within 28 days in their original condition and there is nothing to pay.
For a custom tie, we also make a free pre-production sample of your actual design before the full order runs. Nobody has to vote on a drawing alone.
What to send us to start your choir uniform
Ask for our free brochure and sample tie and we will post both, so members can see the colours and quality at your next rehearsal.
